On August 6, 2017, my classmate Read wrote an article over the pressure of assisted suicide . Read made his argument and explained he does not agree with this method and believes, that people should not be given the option to do this. While I don't agree with my classmate I do have to say he had good point to state his argument. Read states that he is against assisted suicide because he thinks that other people should not be able to make or take this decision for others. Also mentioning that assisted suicide is only legal in some states. He also compared it to the dogs scenario. Overall, I do not agree with my classmate. I believe that people should be given the option to choose and if they are capable of doing it I would agree that if the persons parents or spouse should have the right to determine this.

On July 28, 2017 The Opinion Page from The Washington Post   posted an article published by Akhil Sharma called " I resisted the label 'immigrant writer.' Trump makes me more willing to accept it. "  In this article the author explains how it has been hard for him as an Indian writer. He gives examples of things that people have said to him on the streets or even when he's on his morning run. He argues that things like these did happen before but he states that "This sort of hatred surely existed before Donald Trump became president, but it seems his example has made it more acceptable to say such things." This makes one feel pushed towards an immigrant identity. It sure does not help when you are part of minority group and for Trump to make it okay to do or say things like this is not right. Many people who fall into the minority groups seem to try an disassociate from the attacked group like the minorities group people label them as.  Personally,

On July 27, 2017, my classmate Alexis Lopez wrote ablog in favor of Free child care. She states that the primary reason she believes that this should be free is that there is a lot of children who have young parents and there is so many who have low or no income at all. Alexis argued that the government should provide free child care but only to those who would qualify for it and not just to those who want to take advantage of it. I personally agree and believe that all the arguments my classmate made were good and had good reasoning behind them. Overall, this is a topic that can be a bit controversy because while, I agree with my classmate and she happens to have very good information to back up her arguments I also believe that if people know that they are not good economically then why not wait to have a child once both people are stabled. I understand that things happen and sometimes it is not something that is plan but rather something that just happens when one least expects

The top question that is on most people's mind is whether or not we, America, should legalize marijuana? Marijuana is a big national government issue today because there is so many people who believe that legalizing marijuana will be a good thing as it can be used for medical use as well as many other uses and it is also less harmful than other legal drugs and antidepressant.  There are several states where marijuana is legal and others where an individual can carry a license stating that they are allowed to have marijuana on them for medical use only. Current laws for marijuana are doing more harm that what they would if it were to just be legalized. Marijuana can also help get rid of addiction to other leading drugs. Marijuana is an effective treatment for curing people with hard drug addiction and it also helps to reduce drugs and alcohol abuse. When addiction users use marijuana, they have a lower chance or relapsing due to the fact that marijuana helps with symptoms one g

On July 24, 2017, the Opinion page  from New York Times  wrote an article called "My Gay Agenda" . This article was written by Jennifer Finney Boylan. This article talks about how there is so much inequality in the world. The author was referring more to the L.G.B.T. community as the author is a transgender woman.  The articles discusses the issue of inequality and how the legislature is expected to vote again on the bill that restricts which bathroom transgender people from Texas should use. Jennifer states how she wants special rights for transgender people and she goes to explaining why more in the article. Just this year so far there has been 15 transgender woman who have been beat up and killed for just being themselves. Jennifer also states in her article "I want the special right not to be fired from my job. In 28 states, it's perfectly legal to terminate an employee because you don't like the gender of the person that he or she is in love with." I

On July 20, 2017 The Opinion Page from New York Times posted an article published by Nicholas Kristof called "If Dr. Trump Were Your Surgeon..."    In this article, the author makes a joke explaining what would happen if Trump were a doctor. Kristof makes an argument stating that Trump wants to get rid of the health program because it is costing the United States too much money and blames the Democrats and Obama for the bad health coverage that we have right now. A quote from the article states that Trump said "We're not going to own it. I'm not going to own it." Trump is saying that he wants Obama to fail and wants the Democrats to seek out to the Republicans to work together on a new bill. I disagree with this argument because I believe that the health care we have today is much needed. The Obama Health Care Act is very useful and is helping a lot of people. If Trump were to take away the Obama health care it would affect many people including elderly, Hi

Can Trump turn his presidency around?

On July 16th, 2017, USA Today posted an article called " Analysis: At the six-month milestone, can Trump turn around his struggling presidency? "  This article explains how we are halfway into Trumps first year at the White House and he has not applied any of his promises he once told Americans during his elections. When Trump was running for president he made many promises to the American people saying he would do things such as "replace Obamacare with a wonderful new health care system, cut taxes, launch a massive investment in infrastructure and also build a wall across the Mexican border." During a presidents first year in the White House it allows the People of the United States to see if their president has the will to actually make America great again or drag America down again. Many people are saying that Trump is not going down the path he was hoping for when he was elected for president. I would recommend this article because it talks about the issue of
